Frequently Asked Questions

The Golden Plane will revolutionize how we learn the game of golf. Its mirror optics will allow one to visualize the club on the swing plane like never before. This device will become the gold standard for the swing plane and golfing aids. I am looking forward to receiving the Golden Plane trainer.

bullet pointFrequently Asked Questions:

Q: Can I use my own golf clubs and hit real golf balls off of it?
A: Yes. The striking surface is not a glass mirror. It is made of a shatter-resistant plastic and has a great deal of strength and flexibility.

Q:Will the Swing Gauge work with both a two-plane swing and a one-plane swing?
A: Absolutely. In fact, you can use the Swing Gauge to help figure out which swing is right for you! With a one-plane swing, adjust the swing plane indicator so that it lines up with your hands at address. Then, just swing so that you can see the club is parallel to the line throughout your swing. With a two-plane swing, adjust the swing plane indicator so that it lines up with your shoulders. Your backswing should stay below the line and the top of your backswing should be on the line. More details and images are included with the product.

Q: Does the mirror get scratched? Can I hit shots directly from the mirror surface?
A: The mirror wil not get scratched or broken with normal use. The product has an impact-resistant mirror striking surface and you can hit golf balls directly off the mirror. There are two kinds of protective transparent overlay that protect the mirror. The first protective overlay is roughly the same size as the striking surface and is designed to remain in place for several practice sessions. The second protective overlay is smaller (about 17 inches long) and adheres over the top of the first overlay. This second layer is the one that you actually strike with the golf club. The second overlay may include silkscreened alignment guides and is easily removed/replaced. Scratches and divot marks are contained within the overlay(s) and should not affect the mirror itself. Both layers are adhered with a soap/water solution.

Q: Why doesn't the mirror break? What is the durability of the product?
A: In testing, the mirrors stand up to a great deal of punishment and will not break with normal use. In fact, due to the toughness of the material a heavily beaten mirror is more likely to become "dented but useable" instead of breaking. The mirror unit attaches to the device with velcro, if a mirror is broken or damaged for some reason, a replacement may be purchased and easily installed by the end user.

Q: Is the product completely indestructible?
A: No. The striking surface will stand up to normal use just like most other practice mats. However, the same excessive force that can tear an artificial turf mat can also break an impact resistant mirror. However, due to the toughness of the material a heavily beaten mirror is more likely to become "dented but useable" instead of breaking.

Q: Is impact hard for wrists over time?
A: Impact is not hard on your wrists since the striking surface rests upon a soft foam suspension that absorbs the shock. In fact, the impact is significantly less hard than that which is experienced with most standard driving mats.

Q: I'm afraid that I'll make a wild swing and harm the Swing Gauge. What should I do.
A: The mirror wil not get scratched or broken with normal use. However, beginners intermediate level golfers who are struggling with their swings should follow the exercises on the instructional DVD. These are designed to get your swing up to speed and prevent injury to yourself or the Swing Gauge.

Q: Is it easy to remove divot marks?
A: Scuff marks and scratches are prevented from affecting the mirror by transparent plastic overlays that are placed over the striking surface. The overlay should be replaced periodically.

Q: What is included with the product?
A: The product will ship with some accessories including an instructional DVD, rubber golf tee(s), clear protective overlay(s), and silkscreened alignment guides.

Q: How can I clean the mirror if it gets dirty?
A: Rubbing alchohol is best. I keep some small alchohol prep pads handy when I am doing public demonstrations.

Q: Can I use a golf tee?
A: The product ships with special golf tees that can be used on the mirror surface. You can attach the tee to the mirror with a suction cup.

Q: How can I get more alignment guides and protective overlays?
A: All product accessory items will be available for ordering from the website.

Q: What is the return policy?
A: The details of the return policy are still being worked out. However, defects in manufacture that prevent the unit from working correctly will be covered. Look for more details on this policy when the pre-ordering information is released.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: The product is not yet available and final prices have not been published but we are targeting a retail of around $199 (USD/MSRP).

Q: How soon can I get one?
A: Pre-orders will be accepted beginning in April of 2008.
